A pastor and trainer at heart, Dr Ho Chiao Ek started his ministry over 30 years ago at the National University of Singapore evangelising and mentoring students. In 1990, he left Singapore to pursue his theological studies at the Talbot School of Theology, Biola University (California, U.S.A.) and King’s College, University of Aberdeen (Scotland, U.K.) where he earned a Master of Divinity (highest honours) and a Doctor of Philosophy in New Testament Studies respectively. He then taught for 12 years at the East Asia School of Theology (Singapore), and was the Principal from 2003–2012. In June 2012, Dr Ho joined the staff of Covenant Evangelical Free Church to lead missions mentoring and education in an ambitious and rapidly growing missions thrust of the church. He is concurrently the Principal of the IDMC Institute. Dr Ho is passionate about teaching the Bible, mentoring and preparing labourers for the mission field. Married to his partner-in-ministry, Samantha, they have two adult children in Kirsten and Brandon.
Reverend Edmund Chan is a seasoned disciple-making pastor. The Leadership Mentor in Covenant Evangelical Free Church, Edmund is widely regarded as an insightful Bible expositor and a wise mentor of Christian leaders. In 1995, he launched the annual Intentional Disciple-making Church (IDMC) Conferences, which have drawn over 1000 pastors and disciple-making leaders from more than 150 churches from over 18 countries. He also serves on the advisory councils of several Christian organizations. Edmund has authored Built To Last: Towards A Disciple-making Church, Growing Deep in God, Mentoring Paradigms and Growing Deep in Faith. He graduated summa cum laude from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School with an MA (Missions). He is married to Ann Chan, who serves as an Associate Pastor, and they have two adult daughters, Amanda and Belicia.
Reverend Tony Yeo is the Senior Pastor of Covenant Evangelical Free Church. His passion for leadership development through disciplemaking and mentoring is witnessed in the 28 years of his faithful leadership within the church. He is a people-sensitive, principle-centered and purpose-driven leader whose passion for leadership development through discipleship and mentoring, can be seen in his track record of over twenty years in proven leadership. He is the author of Leading Beyond The Second Chair—A Certain Kind of Leadership, where he shares insightful perspectives about how godly leaders can marry humble subordination with decisive leadership.
Pastor Tony has been serving as the youngest General Secretary of the Evangelical Fellowship of Singapore (EFOS) since 2006. He has also been serving as the Executive Secretary of the Global Day of Prayer in Singapore since 2008, which culminated at the Jubilee Day of Prayer in 2015.
Pastor Tony graduated from Singapore Bible College with a Bachelor of Theology with Honours and holds a post-graduate Diploma in Spiritual Formation from Tyndale Seminary, Toronto. He authored Leading Beyond the Second Chair – A Certain Kind of Leadership in 2012, and is married to Choy Mei. They have two sons, Timothy and Noah.
Reverend Tan Kay Kiong is the Senior Pastor of Covenant Evangelical Free Church. He is a Shepherd-Leader at heart who loves to see people discover their full potential in God.
Pastor Kay Kiong was installed as a pastor at Covenant EFC upon graduation from Singapore Bible College in 1993. Shortly after, Pastor Kay Kiong went on to oversee the Family Life Ministry, where he developed his life’s calling. He currently serves as the pastoral advisor for the Men’s Ministry Network in Singapore and served as the first Chaplain for Focus on the Family Singapore from 2015-2017.
Pastor Kay Kiong and his wife, Diana, enjoy leading mentoring groups within and outside Covenant EFC. They have two beautiful young adult daughters, Hilda and Hazel.
Reverend Doctor Chua Chung Kai is Associate Pastor of Covenant Evangelical Free Church (Covenant EFC). He serves in the Senior Pastor’s Office, currently directing its Integrated Equipping ministry.
Pastor Kai is a gifted teacher of God’s Word, possessing the ability to explain complex ideas in the simplest ways. A medical doctor by training, he graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1989. He subsequently subsequently graduated with a Masters in Divinity from the Singapore Bible College in the year 2000. He has been serving as a pastor in Covenant EFC since 1996 and was ordained with the Evangelical Free Church of Singapore in 2004. He is also Chairman of the Evangelical Free Churches of Singapore and a general committee member in of the National Council of Churches of Singapore.
Pastor Kai is married to Tina and they have three children, John, Joel and Joanne.
Pastor Ann Chan ministers actively alongside her husband, Rev. Edmund Chan, the Leadership Mentor of Covenant Evangelical Free Church and serves as an Associate Pastor in the Senior Pastor’s Office team. A gifted leader and teacher, she has pioneered many of Covenant EFC’s ministries, including the Women-In-Covenant ministry. No stranger to pain and suffering herself, she has been an empathetic and wise counselor to many who have approached her over her years of ministry. An educator by training, Ann graduated with a Master of Arts degree in Christian Education (with honours) from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in 1994. She has also mentored, preached and taught in Hong Kong, Australia, America and London. She and Edmund have two daughters, Amanda and Belicia.
Reverend David Chan is a gifted bible teacher whose passion is to teach and mentor others with the word of God. Largely a self-taught student of scriptures, he is one of Covenant Evangelical Free Church’s favourite bible teachers and writes our in-house devotional journals and study guides for cell-groups. He is a deep and insightful teacher of the Word and received some theological training at Regent University in 1974. Prior to joining Covenant EFC in 2001, Pastor David was the Academic Dean of Faith Community Baptist’s Church’s TESS Training School. He is married to Valerie Chan, and they have two children, Hsien Rong and Sze Huei.
Pastor Edmund Wong currently serves as Head of the Prayer Department and a District Mentor at Covenant Evangelical Free Church. He was previously Head of Outreach and Head of the Young Adults Ministry (RAYs). His other current and past responsibilities include preaching, teaching at Covenant’s Evangelical Training Centre, directing the annual Intentional Disciplemaking Church (IDMC) conference, and coordinating the Intentional Discipleship Training (IDT). Edmund obtained his Master of Divinity from Trinity Theological College and Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical) with honours from National University of Singapore. He also graduated from the Global Proclamation Academy founded by Dr Ramesh Richard and based in Dallas Theological Seminary. He was trained in preaching by Rev Edmund Chan at Biblical Graduate School of Theology and is certified to train others in the Scripture Sculpture method of preaching by Dr Ramesh Richard. He is happily married to Sue Ern, who herself is a gifted leader with a pastoral heritage.
Pastor Valerie Chan is a Pastor overseeing the Women-in Covenant ministry as well as a district mentor overseeing cell groups in Covenant Evangelical Free Church. Her passion is in mentoring men and women to fulfill their destiny in God. She leads and preaches at Women’s Breakthrough Weekend as well as in Silent Retreats in her church. She also preaches and teaches in other churches. Valerie has been a certified trainer of the “Hope and Change for Humpty Dumpty” Modules by Dr Gary Sweeten since 1996. She was a pastor in her previous church for eight years and was actively involved in counselling and training. She is married to Rev David Chan and is a mother of two children, Hsien Rong and Sze Huei.
Reverend William Wong is a District Mentor at Covenant EFC. His passion for training and development was nurtured during his younger Youth for Christ (YFC) days when he was their Training Manager. William received his Diploma in Adult Education from University of British Columbia and a Masters of Arts in Education, Training and Development from Hull University, UK. He was also formerly Chairman of the English Presbytery Training Committee. William graduated with his Masters of Divinity from Singapore Bible College and served in Bethel Presbyterian Church and Singapore Life Church before joining Covenant EFC in 2005 as the Outreach Pastor. William is happily married to Ser Lian whom he met and courted during his YFC days. They have three charming boys—Zechy, Zephy and Zebedee.
